The Root Chakra
As you probably already know, your chakras are the energy centers of your body. Each chakra represents different aspect of our emotional, mental and physcial state of being. Each center is located in a different area of the body.
The Root Chakra is the first chakra and is located at the base of the spine. The Root Chakra connects us to our physical body and connects us energetically with earth. The Root Chakra is what connects us to the physical world in all aspects of physicality. Anyone who extremely physically active tends to be blanced and grounded in their Root Chakra.
An imbalanced, or closed off Root Chakra can affect us in physical, negative ways. It is believed we draw our lifeforce energy from the Root Chakra, so if this Chakra is imbalanced or closed off, the other chakras cannot work properly. The Root Chakra is the foundation of your physical existance.
Different symptoms manifest depending on what issue you have with your Root Chakra (over-active, under-active, closed). If you have an imbalanced Root Chakra you will emotionally feel insecure about many areas of your life and yourself. You will have self-esteem issues, and fears of instability and abandonment. You may lash out emotionally and easily lose your temper. An imbalanced Root Chakra tends to stem from experiences growing up, or traumatic events unexpectedly occuring at some point in life. An imbalanced Root Chakra indicates full healing never took place regarding the event or experiences that triggered the imbalance.
If your Root Chakra is imbalanced there are physical manifestations along with the emotional manifestations I just discussed. Imbalanced Root Chakra symptoms may physically manfiest as weight-loss/gain, over or underactive sex drive, poor immune system, anemia, depression, laziness, irratible bowel syndrome and other intestianal issues.
If you find yourself often feeling insecure on any level, along with any of the physical symptoms mentioned, your Root Chakra may need attention. I always recommend seeing a Reiki doctor, or energy healer to help balance one's chakras. If you do not feel comfortable with Reiki, or do not currently have the resources to see a healer, there are other things you can do yourself to help ground you, and balance your Root Chakra. You can heal yourself entirely on your own, an energy healer just helps the process along.
Since your Root Chakra is connected to the earth, it's a great idea to get out in nature and allow yourself to absorb the environment. Sit down on the earth and meditate. Walk barefoot. Tell yourself that you are safe, secure, protected and loved. Re-establish your connection with your physical body. Your body is what is carrying you through this physical experience. Building a positive and healthy relationship with your physical body will balance your Root Chakra naturally.
